Steady On!
Greetings Astounding Adventurers!
We’re back with another weekly update! We hope everyone had a very lovely Easter. This week, we’ve got some fun stuff for you this week as we talk about on what’s going on in the studio, some amazing things going on in entertainment that you’ll want to check out, and a motivational message we’re hoping puts a little more spring in your step to get you through the rest of the week. We love doing these newsblogs each week and we hope you like them too!
1) More From our Upcoming Web-Comic! -
From the Department of Comic Development’s Visual Development Division
We’ve got another sneak peek for you lovely people of our upcoming webcomic Soul Canvas. We’re hard at work writing outlines, scripts, and illustrating characters. In this sneak peek, we wanted to show you some new visual development that we’ve been putting our main character Aurianna through. We just felt like there wasn’t enough to make her stand out and be unique in a sea of other amazing protagonists that we know and love from various stories. So, we thought we’d give her a unique attribute like pinkish hair to help her stand out a bit! We feel like we’re getting closer with her design here. What do you think? Please write to us at thebearandpixieblog@gmail.com to let us know what you think of her new look!
2) One of Our Favorite Anime Shows Ever! –
From the Department of Animated Storytelling
Recently, as we were trying to find more inspiration for our webcomic Soul Canvas, Pixie and I recently started watching the Snow White with the Red Hair anime again. You read that right, I said again. This anime is so good that Pixie and I both have watched it multiple different times all the way through. We’re even hoping someday that it will finally get a third season and continue the story were it left off (while also hoping staying faithful to the manga)! This show has amazing, lovable characters that go through fun adventures, intriguing drama, and lots of heartfelt moments that make you want to watch it again and again. In recent years, it seems like there is a constant push for more and more pieces of entertainment to become darker, more disturbing, and overall more graphic in nature. Pixie and I don’t mind watching entertainment like that from time to time. However, when you’re inundated with content like that 24/7, it really starts to affect you emotionally if you’re not careful. For us, Snow White with the Red Hair has been a breath of fresh air. It’s a very wholesome, beautifully drawn show full of heart and wonder that will leave you feeling happy after each episode. If you’ve been needing a break from lots of intense shows, look no further than this show. For its quality, we think that this show absolutely deserves an 8 out of 10 official Bear & Pixie rating. Through each watch, you will always find great dialogue, some hilarious moments, and engaging characters that will keep you coming back for more to see where their story goes next. If you’re interested in seeing it, you can watch it through Crunchyroll if you have an account. You can click on the poster below to check it out for yourself! [WE ARE NOT SPONSORED BY ANY COMPANY. 3) Artist Shout-Out -
From the Artist Relations Department
Our pick for Artist Shout-Out this week goes to the incredibly talented Character Designer and Illustrator Bev Johnson! Bev has the uncanny ability to create these amazingly appealing characters with her delicate line work, great use of color, and well-developed eye for design. Pixie and I both have followed her for a while now and always love it whenever we see something on our feed from her on Instagram. That’s why it was an easy decision for us to pick her for this week’s Artist Shout-Out. Please go take a peek at her work for yourself in the links below and give her a follow if you feel so inclined! [We are not sponsored by Bev Johnson. We are only fans and genuinely wanted to give a shoutout.]

4) The Importance of Being Steady -
From the Motivational Messaging Department
Lately, I have been reminded of how pivotal it is to stay consistent. For Pixie and I, 2022 has been a year of working super hard as we go “pedal to the metal” on all our different projects, personal goals, and dreams. Sometimes, it seems like we should be moving a bit faster and more efficiently than we are. Really though, we often remind ourselves that the best things in life take time. Even though at times we may want to ease up or maybe even give in, we know that if we continue to be steady, work smart, work hard, and push ourselves enough; we will accomplish it all. A routine that we do in our house is trying to remember and celebrate all the, what we like to call, the “mini-accomplishments” that we’ve made in our lives.
Basically, as we are making progress towards our goals, we get to see all the “mini-accomplishments” that we’ve earned so far. These benchmarks stand as a testament to our intelligence, tenacity, and skill as well as give us a small taste of what’s to come. Each one continues to push us further towards the next. Eventually, through many “mini-accomplishments,” we end up finding big success. So, this week, we wanted to encourage you and tell you to keep going! Don’t give up on your dreams. Work towards those “mini-accomplishments” in your life. Once you get through enough of those, you’ll find that your big success is around the corner too. We can’t wait to share in your journeys as you share in ours. Thank you so much for being a part of our story so far! We hope that you’ll stay tuned to see where our story goes from here.
5) A Classic Comic Storyline that I’d Love to See Hit the Big Screen! –
From the Potential Lucrative Entertainment Division
As Pixie and I have been watching this newest phase of the MCU after Avengers Endgame, I have been anxiously awaiting the amazing day when the X-Men and Fantastic Four would make their debut in the MCU (both of which I have talked about in past newsblogs). Now that we’re starting to see all these new heroes become a part of another massive story arc, I can’t help but think about this incredible comic book crossover event I read growing up as a kid called Secret Wars. This book combined the Avengers, X-Men, Fantastic Four, and other solo heroes like Spider-Man all into one big adventure as they were stuck on a mysterious planet called Battleworld. A cosmic being known only as the Beyonder had kidnapped all the Marvel heroes and pitted them against some of their greatest foes in an all-out battle royale! Throughout the story, the heroes had to figure out a way to stop the Beyonder and get back home all while having to negotiate and fight their greatest foes all at the same time.
This book was awesome, and I remember going to the library and checking this book out multiple times to read it as I read it over and over. This is the storyline where Spider-Man first gets the symbiote suit, where Professor Xavier becomes a bigger part of the X-Men again after being able to walk again, and more! When the heroes finally get back to Earth after being stranded on Battleworld, a couple of months have passed, and they must pick up their lives again after being gone for so long. I know this story has been kind of been done before through the Snap, however I believe that there could be some more unique twists on this material to make the story stand out within the modern era of storytelling. I think that the Secret Wars storyline should be (and most likely is) one of the next storylines that are being planned out for the MCU. In any case, this comic is an absolute must-read for any Marvelite! This comic earns a very solid 9 out of 10 official Bear & Pixie rating as an excellent story that everybody should read and experience. You can check get the trade paperback collection of this awesome storyline on Amazon by clicking on the picture below. [WE ARE NOT SPONSORED BY ANY COMPANY.
