Hello Bombastic Believers!
We’re here to start off this month’s updates with a great weekly installment of our newsblogs! We’ve got some pretty cool sneak peeks for you for some things we’re working on, tips on some awesome entertainment you just have to experience for yourself, and a nugget of other cool stuff we’d like to share with you. We hope this newsblog brings you much joy as we start off this month’s set of updates with a good one!
1) YouTube is Just Around the Corner! -
From the Department of Creative Expression
It’s been a long time since I gave you all a progress report on how my venture into YouTube is going and I thought I’d take this week’s update as an opportunity to share with you where I’m at in the process. I have finished acquiring the necessary equipment to get started and have a couple scripts ironed out for some potential videos to boot! I can’t wait to begin recording soon. My goal is to try and record around 3-4 videos at a time to be able to regularly release content. I plan to mainly talk about video games while taking a couple videos here and there to discuss comics and other forms of entertainment. I have a huge passion for the medium of games and storytelling. I am mainly delving into YouTube as a way to express why I love video games, how I think the medium of video games could be enhanced, and talk about some ideas I had that hopefully people might find interesting. Honestly, this little side hobby comes completely from a passionate place and, no matter how successful or unsuccessful it is, I will continue to do it for the foreseeable future out of that same passion. I can’t wait to share all these little side projects with you soon but, until then, I encourage you all to follow your passions and dreams. The world is always made better through people expressing their constructive, creative sides in unique ways!
2) Who Knew a Movie about Bad Guys could be so Good! –
From the Department of Animated Storytelling
Pixie and I just recently went out and saw Dreamworks Animation’s latest animated film The Bad Guys in theaters and it was awesome! We went into this show with our skepticals firmly on as we weren’t sure how good the film was actually going to be. These days, you never know which movies are going to be flops and which ones are going to be among the greats. Fortunately, The Bad Guys is the latter and not the former. With great characters, good pacing, solid writing, and beautifully animated sequences throughout, The Bad Guys is an entertaining, heartwarming ride pretty much all the way through. The third act of the film dips in quality a little bit, but not too much. Overall, Pixie and I would give this movie an 8 out of 10 for its stellar quality while also taking its lackluster third act into account. We believe that this movie is definitely worth seeing in theaters as the story, soundtrack, and more have a much greater impact on the big screen than a smaller one. Not only that, its quality is definitely deserving of the worth of the price of a ticket to go see it. So please, if you feel so inclined, go check this one out for yourself in a theater near you! 3) Artist Shout-Out -
From the Artist Relations Department
Our pick for this week’s Artist Shout-Out goes to an artist by the name of Very Berry on Instagram! If you check out their Instagram, you can definitely see that they’re well deserving of the shout-out. Each of the characters on their Instagram are chock full of personality and whimsy. Their use of color, line, and design is stellar with each one of their characters brimming with realism. If we’ve piqued your interest, then you should check out Very Berry’s Instagram and Linktree to see more! Links are below. One thing’s for sure, Very Berry at least deserves a follow so head on over and show them some love from us. [We are not sponsored by Very Berry. 4) The Origins of a Meteorite That Hit Earth Has Been Revealed! -
From the Fascinating News Division
Just recently, I saw this fascinating story on NPR.com that reported how scientists in the beginning of April had discovered the origins of where a meteorite that landed close to Papa New Guinea in 2014 had come from! Since 2014, a student at Harvard began trying to figure out where the meteorite had come from and had discovered that it came from an interstellar location. 5) A Throwback Comic I Felt Deserved a Shout-Out –
From the Storytelling Division of the Comics Department
As I was remembering comics that I have read in my life that left lasting impacts on me, one that instantly leapt into my mind’s eye was Marvel’s Runaways. Written by Brian K Vaughn and illustrated by Adrian Alphona, this comic explores the fundamental questions, are we fated to be just like our parents? Or can we forge our own path? Our own legacy? Our own destiny? This amazing story explores this idea in spades when the children of supervillains decide to go against the family designs and become runaways. Their mission, to stop their parents' villainous plans before they come to fruition. Chock full of amazing gadgets, magic, ancient beasts, and incredible characters, this story is one you don’t want to miss out on. Admittedly, the best part of this comic is the original 18 issues that were published in 2003. However, the other collected volumes are also decent too. I would definitely recommend collecting the very first omnibus and reading it as it contains the original story that stunned audiences around the world. If I had to give it a rating, the very first arc is definitely worth a 9 out of 10. You don’t want to miss out on this amazing story. If you are interested in reading this series, please check out the link below for an Amazon page that shows you all the volumes of the comic all in one place!
