Exploring Ideas for the Look of Our Comic!
Howdy Amazing Adventurers!
We’re starting off a brand-new month of updates and this week’s newsblog will be full of some awesome stuff! We’ve got another peek at us working on the art style of our new webcomic, great entertainment recommendation, and some other things we think you’ll find interesting. Without further ado, let’s get into it!
1) More Exploration with Terrible Twosome’s Art Style! -
From the Webcomic Creation Department
This week, we wanted to show you a little peek at Pixie messing with the art style a little more just to figure out exactly how we would like this whole comic to go. The cool thing about visual development of a project is that you can try lots of different things, tweak some aspects a little bit, and take the time to really figure out exactly how to present your story in the best way. Right now, we’re doing a little bit more of that as we continue to put the beginning scripts and other characters together for this multi-year project. We don’t know if this will be the final look or not for our comic, but I think we’re coming close to figuring that out. Interested to see more about our upcoming webcomic Terrible Twosome? Stay tuned to all things Bear and Pixie to see more over the coming months!
2) A Promising Film that Becomes a Predictable Snooze Fest! –
From the Animated Film Division of the Department of Storytelling
Just a few days ago, Pixie and I saw was the new Disney film Strange World. To us, the previews made it look like it would be in the same vein as underrated classics Treasure Planet and Atlantis: The Lost Empire. Unfortunately, we were disappointed on that front. This film has some good bones to it with some interesting characters, promising ideas for its story, and a great feel overall to the whole flick. However, the movie suffers from being completely cookie cutter in its execution based on how it uses its characters, the story becomes completely predictable after the first initial minutes, and worldbuilding that has been done plenty of times in the same exact way in this medium. It’s fun enough to see once. Although we recommend you wait till this one comes out on Disney+ to watch it. If Disney was able to give this film more support in its development and marketing, it could have been one of the greats. Regrettably, it looks like the opposite happened. When you watch the film, you really get the sense that Disney left the team who made this film out to sea without an oar, so to speak. It honestly is a disservice to a film that has all the makings of being incredible. At Bear & Pixie, we give this movie a 5 out of 10 as we feel it’s really average at best. If you’re interested in seeing this one for yourself, go check it out in theaters while you still can! [WE ARE NOT SPONSORED BY ANY COMPANY. We are only giving you a genuine, un-sponsored recommendation.]
3) Artist Shout-Out -
From the Artist Relations Department
Our pick for this week’s Artist Shout-Out goes to the incredible comics artist David Finch. If you’re not familiar with him, David is one of the most prolific artists in comics right now. He has an absolute command over line, shading, and character design that shines through in every panel he illustrates. We think he definitely deserves a shout-out here on our newsblog and a follow on Instagram so check out that link below. Also, if you like his stuff a ton and would like to support him further, please go check out his personal website where he sells his own art, courses on how to draw comic art, and more! [We are not sponsored by David Finch. We are only fans and genuinely wanted to give a shoutout.]

4) NASA is Refining Their Manned Mars Mission Strategy! -
From the Fascinating News Division
I saw this article about how NASA is putting together a more solid plan to put men and women on Mars. Wondering how they are thinking of accomplishing this? 5) One of the Best Scooby-Doo Shows of All Time! –
From the Animated Show Division of the Storytelling Department
As I’ve been working on one of my videos for YouTube, I’ve been watching a lot of Scooby-Doo (don’t worry, that will make sense soon in the future) and I started rewatching Scooby-Doo Mystery Incorporated. This show was one of those sleeper hits that nobody saw coming back in the day and I was wondering how well it holds up. Now, to be fair, it isn’t as good as my nostalgia makes me imagine it is. However, it isn’t honestly that far off! This show takes the normal Scooby characters we know and love in new directions that are very entertaining and interesting. Sometimes though, the relationship drama between the gang members can get a little too annoying at times. However, the show does boast a good overarching story, great character moments, funny scenes that you’ll remember forever, and more that make the show more endearing and fantastic in its own unique way. For us, we feel like this show easily earns a 7 out of 10 on the official Bear & Pixie rating system and we highly recommend you check out this show for yourself. It is above average in its writing and design that makes the whole two season show worth at least one watch all the way through. If you feel so inclined to do so, you can watch this show by clicking on the picture below on HBOMax if you have a subscription! [We are NOT sponsored by any company. We are only giving a genuine opinion/recommendation.]
