Taking Time to Reflect and Recuperate

Howdy Fantastic Followers!

We’re rolling out a great update for you here in January! Can you believe we’re almost through with the first month of 2023? Time sure does fly! This week’s newsblog will have lots of the same things all the others have had. We’ve got a little info about what’s going on in our personal life right now, great entertainment suggestions for you all to check out, and more in this issue of our monthly newsletter. We thoroughly enjoy putting these together and we hope these updates serve as an enjoyable part of your day.

1) We’re Starting Our Little Vacation! -

From the Recreation and Recuperation Department

Today, Pixie and I are heading out to the East Coast to simultaneously celebrate our year and a half anniversary as well as use up our Hamilton tickets that we initially purchased for our honeymoon before COVID decided to throw a wrench in that plan. It’s been a while since we’ve really had a break with just the two of us, and let me tell you, it’s much needed after having endured lots of crazy situations within our personal life. Since my grandfather’s passing, my YouTube goals and dreams have really been put on hold (as well as some studio stuff pushed back as a result). I will personally be using this trip to reconnect with that YouTube passion that I just can’t seem to escape from and figure out a way to really make that dream a reality while also continuing to learn how to draw alongside it. It will be nice to be able to spend the time with my favorite human (Pixie), do a little soul-searching, and rejuvenate myself so that I’m ready to hit the ground running on all my passions once we return. Wish us luck on this trip as we use it to connect deeper with one another as husband and wife, as well as get more in touch with our goals and dreams that we have personally and as a team, to further strive to bring all of you wonderful followers more amazing content that we hope you enjoy for years to come.

2) A Studio Ghibli Great That Seems to Leave a Lasting Impact –

From the Anime Movie Division of the Department of Animated Storytelling

Here we go again with another Studio Ghibli film guys! Over these next few weeks, I thought it would be cool to go through the rest of their stellar catalogue of films and give you Pixie and I’s thoughts on each one. This week, we’ll be touching on My Neighbor Totoro directed by Hayao Miyazaki. With all of Miyazaki’s works, My Neighbor Totoro taps into the beauty of humanity in the face of struggle. The film centers on two sisters who move to a new area to be close to their sick mom and, throughout the film, they encounter these spirits that provide them some escape from dealing with their mother’s mortality. This film, even though it sounds grim, has lots of incredibly uplifting themes and heartwarming moments throughout. It has so many moments that will make you laugh, cry, cheer, and more as you take a journey with these two little girls and the spirits they start to call friends. This movie is a must-watch as it has beautiful animation, a whimsical score that enhances each second, and characters that you instantly fall in love with. At Bear & Pixie, we give this movie a solid 8 out of 10. We think this should be on your watch next list. If you’re interested in seeing this one for yourself and you have a current HBOMax account, you can watch it by clicking the picture below. [WE ARE NOT SPONSORED BY ANY COMPANY. 3) Artist Shout-Out -

From the Artist Relations Department

Our pick for this week’s Artist Shout-Out goes to the spectacular artist Felipe Magaña who goes by humanmgn on Instagram. Felipe’s art is top-notch due to his amazing use of line, shading, and his knack for composing pieces in a way that just draws you into them. For us, this makes Felipe’s art definitely worthy of a follow on Instagram. Also, if you feel so inclined, this amazing artist’s Linktree link is below if you would like to support Felipe any further. [We are not sponsored by Felipe Magaña. We are only fans and genuinely wanted to give a shoutout.]

4) Scientist Proposes Growing a Forest Inside a Bubble on Mars! -

From the Fascinating News Division

Just recently, I read an article about an engineer who is trying to figure out how to build domes filled with forests on Mars. This would be all to ensure humans could colonize Mars if we can’t turn the ecology of earth around within the coming decades. What do you think? Interested to learn more about this? Go check out the article and find out more about it for yourself! [We are NOT sponsored by any news organization. We are just wanting to share something cool with our incredible fans.]

5) Another Great Anime That Gets You Hooked Right Off the Bat! –

From the Anime Division of the Storytelling Department

Recently, I just started watching a new anime that is on Netflix called Vinland Saga. Now, obviously, this is based off the manga created by Makoto Yukimura of the same (which I should have read before watching the anime, I know). One thing’s for sure, if this is how good the anime is, then I must read the manga! This show is filled with incredible animation, incredible characters, and a story that leaves you on the edge of your seat as you wonder what happens next. Vinland Saga tells the story of Thorfin, a boy who watches his father be murdered in front of him which leads him to swear revenge on the man responsible for his death. However, as fate would have it, revenge is ripped away from Thorfin when another man ends up taking the life of his father’s killer before he can. Now, Thorfin must figure out what to do next with his life after his one purpose has been ripped away from him. In many ways, this story has many layers to it with fantastic writing, voice acting, and story that make it shine throughout. It can be very gory so, if that isn’t your thing, you might want to steer clear of this one. If that’s not an issue for you though, we highly recommend that you check this one out for yourself. We at the Bear and Pixie Art Studio give this show a well-earned 8 out of 10 on the official Bear & Pixie rating system as this anime truly stands out as one of the greats. If you feel so inclined to do so, you can watch this show by clicking on the picture below on Netflix if you have a subscription! [We are NOT sponsored by any company. We are only giving a genuine opinion/recommendation.]
