We’re Back from Hiatus!
Hello to all our Bombastic Believers!
We’re back at it again with a new newsblog for you to enjoy! Sorry for such a long break! For the last couple weeks, we have had a lot of birthdays and family events in our life so, we decided to take a break from releasing newsblogs for the last couple of weeks. However, now that things have cooled down a bit, we are back at it again with another update! Last time, we had some interesting news about a new webcomic we were working on, and, in this update, we’ll be showing you all a better look at our main character, some great entertainment that you should check out, and some other fun stuff that we’d like to share with you. We hope this newsblog brings some joy and fun into your week!
1) Giving You a Better Glimpse of the Main Character -
From the Department of Comic Development
This week, we’re giving you a little bit of a closer look at the main character of the webcomic idea Ulterior Motive that we were working on. Like we talked about last time, Brent Ames is a spy that works for a secret, Illuminati-esque organization called “The Sixth Sector.” Here we are showing off a more rendered look of him and giving you all an idea of what the art style might look like within the comic itself. Next newsblog, we’ll be talking about the status of this project we’ve been talking about and give you an update on what we’re thinking about pursuing creatively moving forward so, if you’re interested in finding out more about what we’ll be working on in the future, keep your eyes right here on everything Bear & Pixie Art Studio!
2) Going Down Memory Lane –
From the Department of Animated Storytelling
Pixie and I continue to just keep going back to some of the great hits from our childhood. This last week, we started watching some Pokémon movies again and found ourselves watching Pokémon 2000. It was pretty refreshing to go back and watch a Pokémon movie that was taking itself semi-seriously and had some actual character arcs and growth in it from start to finish. With a bunch of fun jokes, some cool animation, and a decent story, Pokémon 2000 is definitely worth the watch if you haven’t seen it before. If you’re looking for a wholesome, fun Pokémon adventure for the whole family to enjoy, then this is the one for you! Our overall score for this one it would be a 6 out of 10 on the Bear & Pixie scale. If you feel so inclined, you can watch the whole thing on PokéFlix! If you do, you can get there easily by clicking the picture below. [WE ARE NOT SPONSORED BY ANY COMPANY. We are only giving you a genuine, un-sponsored recommendation.]
3) Artist Shout-Out -
From the Artist Relations Department
Our pick for this week’s Artist Shout-Out goes to the amazing illustrator that goes by the name of Laan on Instagram. Their art has an amazing energy to it with fantastic coloring, whimsical design, and wonderfully done layouts. Laan’s art is worth following on Instagram for and, if you feel so inclined, you can check out Laan’s Caard link below to see their other social media links as well as their Ko-fi if you would like to support them that way. Regardless, let’s all show some love to Laan for just being an incredible illustrator! [We are not sponsored by Laan. We are only fans and genuinely wanted to give a shoutout.]

4) Why Dogs Love Their Humans! -
From the Fascinating News Division
Just recently, I saw this interesting article explaining how geneticists have figured out why dogs are so friendly to humans. This was a very fascinating read and, as a dog lover myself, was fun to learn about. If you’re interested in getting more info on this topic, you can check out the article in the link below! 5) A New Manga I’ve Been Checking Out! –
From the Creative Story Department
I have been checking out more manga recently and had read online that Witch Hat Atelier was another great one that was a must read. One thing’s for sure, that review is absolutely true, and this manga is a must-read! The characters are great, the story well-paced, and the art is spectacular! I really don’t want to say much more than that as I don’t want to spoil anything for you all going into this manga. The best experience ever, at least for me, was going into this manga completely blind and being blown away by the amazing writing, excellent worldbuilding, and wonderful art that can be found on every page. If you’re looking for a new manga to read, this one should be at the top of your list for sure. I would give this manga a very well-deserved 10 out of 10. If you’re a regular visitor here at Bear & Pixie Art Studio, you know that we don’t hand out 10 out of 10’s frequently or lightly. So, if you want to check this one out for yourself, you can click the picture below to get a copy for yourself of the first volume. [We are NOT sponsored by any company. We are only giving a genuine recommendation.]
