The Magnificent Mom of Our Terrible Twosome
Salutations Fantastic Followers!
We’re hit the ground running this week with this new update! We’ll be giving you a closer work at another one of our supporting characters that you’ll find in our upcoming webcomic, show you some great entertainment that you should check out, and share other fun stuff in this fully loaded update. As always, we’re hoping this newsblog brings some joy and fun into your week!
1) A Look at Our Magnificent Mom in Terrible Twosome! -
From the Visual Development Division
This week, we thought it would be a fun idea to start sharing some of the other characters that will be starring in our upcoming webcomic, Terrible Twosome, alongside our twins Addy and Andy. This week, we’re highlighting the mom to our terrible twins, Ashley Adkins. As we developed this character, I’ve always imagined her being a strong, independent woman who wanted to also balance her life out having a family. Ashley is the type of woman who follows her own career path out in the world, but also makes sure she has the time to run her house in equal partnership with her husband Aaron. She is adventurous, kind, energetic, and hard-working. Now, like we’ve said before, every character will continue to change over time but, in the first year of the comic’s life, this is at least the start of what we feel Ashley will be looking like going forward. However, in this photo we feel like she looks a little too young so expect a little bit of changes coming on this character. Over time, she may end up looking different depending on the season of life the family is going through. Like always, our main mission with this project is to create a comic that all people can’t wait to keep reading, laugh a ton with as they scroll through each panel, and create a story that is both heartwarming as well as something that all people can become emotionally invested in. If you like what you see here, and would like to see more in the future, keep your eyes peeled for all things Bear & Pixie Art Studio for more updates on Terrible Twosome!
2) Another Studio Ghibli Flick That is a Phenomenal Must-See! –
From the Anime Movie Division of the Department of Animated Storytelling
As I was working one day, I decided to rewatch Hayao Miyazaki’s Castle in the Sky and, even though I’ve seen this move at least three times, it never fails to be an amazing ride. If you’re looking for a great movie to watch on a family movie night, then here’s another great pick for you! This movie has it all with some top-notch animation that outclasses things made today and a great story about greed, lust for power, and the need for us to preserve nature to live alongside it. As with all of Miyazaki’s films, Castle in the Sky takes the time to depict the travesties that follow war, the need for us as humans to rise above petty goals, and the importance of finding unity between nature and technology. The characters, world, and plot all service these themes and messages in such a stellar way all throughout. Here at Bear and Pixie Art Studio, we’d give this one an official rating of 9 out of 10. It is fantastic movie full of heart, wonderful characters, and a story that speaks right to every viewer’s heart. If you’ve never seen this Studio Ghibli flick, you need to stop what you’re doing and put this movie on your “watch next” list. If you’re interested in seeing this one for yourself and you have a current HBOMax account, you can watch it by clicking the picture below. [WE ARE NOT SPONSORED BY ANY COMPANY. 3) Artist Shout-Out -
From the Artist Relations Department
Our pick for this week’s Artist Shout-Out goes to the wonderful illustrator, Alane Grace who goes by aleikats on Instagram. She is a fantastic artist who expertly uses line, shading, contouring, and color to create vibrant pieces full of interesting characters and bright worlds. One area she excels in is drawing incredible, lifelike expressions on each and every one of her characters. If you feel up to it, we highly recommend giving Alane a follow on Instagram and Twitter. Her stuff is genuinely awesome, and we think you should at least take a peek at it yourself. [We are not sponsored by Alane Grace. We are only fans and genuinely wanted to give a shoutout.]

4) Scientists are Developing Ways to Harness Solar Power from Space! -
From the Fascinating News Division
Just recently, an article popped up on my screen about how scientists are figuring out ways to possibly put satellites in space that have solar panels on them to harness solar power from outer space and transmit it down to Earth! They say that this could possibly become a significant source of energy in the future. Interested to find out more about this topic? Go check out the article to find out for yourself! 5) An Awesome Show We’ve Been Sleeping On! –
From the Animated Show Division of the Storytelling Department
This last week, Pixie stumbled upon an awesome show that I am quite sad to say I hadn’t checked out before her. If you don’t know me, I’m a huge gamer and usually watch anything about video games, things inspired by video games, or hell I even just watch people playing games regularly. So, you can imagine my surprise when Pixie tells me she just started watching this show called Dota: Dragon’s Blood and that it’s a killer show! Now, I had seen this show come onto Netflix a long time ago but, for some reason, I had decided to pass it on it for a while as Pixie and I were watching other things. Boy, do I regret that decision! This show, from the very first episode, sinks its claws into you and doesn’t let go. This show is another top-notch example of animated storytelling with incredible animation, fantastic sound design, fascinating characters, and deep world. Sometimes, these video game adaptations are not so good. Lucky for this show, it’s one of those adaptations that you can’t miss out on. It takes the rich lore made from the games and leans into it to tell a very human story within a very heavy fantasy-style world. The characters are so dynamic and authentic that you can’t help but instantly connect with them. You truly can’t wait to see how the story unfolds that you end up watching the next episode, and the next episode, until you end up binging the whole thing. It’s hard to say anything more than that without spoiling more of the show and, honestly, this show is even better when you don’t know anything going in. We really give this show a solid 9 out of 10 on the official Bear & Pixie rating system. However, just know this show does have a lot of language and gore. If that stuff doesn’t bug you, then you need to check out this show as it is a must-see experience! If you feel so inclined to do so, you can watch this show by clicking on the picture below on Netflix! [We are NOT sponsored by any company. We are only giving a genuine opinion/recommendation.]
